About
Assistant Practitioners work as part of the wider health and social care team and have direct contact with patients, service users or clients providing high quality and compassionate care. Assistant Practitioners work at a level above that of Healthcare Support Workers and have a more in-depth understanding about factors that influence health and ill-health (e.g. anatomy and physiology). Assistant Practitioner is a job title applied to a very wide variety of roles that have been developed locally by employers to meet individual service need. Upon successful completion of this standard, individuals will have obtained the core skills, knowledge and values/behaviours to become an Assistant Practitioner.
Framework
The Care Certificate is an agreed set of standards that define the knowledge, skills and behaviours expected of specific job roles in the health and social care sectors. It's made up of the 15 minimum standards that should be covered if you are 'new to care' and should form part of a robust induction programme.
The Care Certificate was developed jointly by Skills for Care, Health Education England and Skills for Health.
The Level 5 Diploma for Assistant Practitioners in Healthcare qualification provides learners with the knowledge, understanding and skills to work as an Assistant Practitioner. The qualification also maps to the Assistant Practitioner (Health) Apprenticeship Standard where the Level 5 Diploma for Assistant Practitioners in Healthcare is a mandated qualification
The apprentice reflects on their knowledge and skills development as well as their approach to the workplace (the values and behaviours). Evidence must be gathered following completion of their programme of training and development and during the 3 months leading up to the planned date of the end point assessment.
Functional Skills qualifications are designed to enable students to develop confidence and fluency in maths and English. They equip students with the practical skills to get the most out of education, work and everyday life and to help them function more confidently, effectively and independently.
